- The reverse-type sweatshirt makes its first debut in Sugar & Co.’s 5th anniversary year — a special milestone piece that reflects the brand’s commitment to authentic sportswear heritage.
The fabric is built from a carefully balanced blend of 89% cotton, 8% acrylic, and 3% rayon, faithfully recreating the texture and hand feel of early classic American sportswear. Widely regarded as one of the most well-balanced compositions of that era, this blend delivers softness, durability, and structure in equal measure.
The body fabric, originally knitted vertically, is intentionally used horizontally to improve freedom of movement across the body — a true reverse construction. Action ribs are sewn with a four-needle flat-seamer for strength and flexibility. The body is constructed from a single continuous piece with no shoulder seams, staying true to vintage construction methods.
While the texture, stitching, details, and silhouette remain faithful to original vintage pieces, the sleeve ribs have been refined to a cleaner length to enhance the shoulder-to-arm balance. The hem rib, inspired by authentic vintage cut-off sweatshirts, has been removed and replaced with a rounded double-fold finish sewn with a two-needle construction — creating a lighter, more modern proportion.
The Faded Black color is finished using a special gas pigment dyeing technique, carefully hand-applied by skilled craftsmen in Kojima.This process creates a naturally worn depth and uneven tonal character, making each piece subtly unique and giving the sweatshirt a distinct presence that sets it apart from ordinary black sweatshirts.

Shoulder Width
- Measure straight across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam on the back.
Chest Width
- Measure straight across the front of the garment, from armpit to armpit. For size chart reference, chest measurement is shown as full circumference ( flat measurement x 2 ).
Waist Width
- Measure across the narrowest part of the shirt — from seam to seam — between the chest and the hem.
Hem Width
- Measure straight across the bottom edge of the shirt, from one side seam to the other — just above the curved hem.
Sleeve Length (Set-In)
- Measure from the top of the shoulder seam straight to the end of the cuff.
Sleeve Length (Raglan)
- Measure from seam of collar all the way down to the end of the cuff.
Armhole
- Measure vertically from the shoulder seam down to the bottom of the armhole seam.
Body Length
- Measure from the center of the base of the collar (just below the collar band) straight down to the bottom hem.
