- The Samurai Jeans S101AX is part of the brand’s special “AI Plus” series, developed to explore a new expression of indigo colour through natural materials, original yarn development, and a unique dyeing approach.
For this special 18oz selvedge denim, the warp uses hard-twisted slubby yarns dyed with a blend of synthetic indigo and natural indigo. This combination creates a deep, rich blue with greater tonal depth and a richer, more distinctive character.
For the weft, Samurai developed an original slubby yarn blended with Samurai Cotton. The short fibres of this Japanese cotton create natural nep and a pronounced rough texture, giving the denim a rugged and highly expressive surface. At the same time, the natural indigo adds subtle tonal variation and further depth to the blue.
The blue selvedge ID is also woven using the same “AI Plus” indigo-dyed warp yarn, allowing the colour of the selvedge itself to evolve gradually with wear. Custom Samurai “Taiko” buttons are finished with silver plating that will wear and age over time, adding another layer of character to this distinctive denim jacket.
