- Pure Blue Japan’s SLB Series takes its name from “slub”, referring to the distinctly uneven texture of the denim surface. Within PBJ’s denim line-up, different fabric codes such as EX and WSB represent their own individual characters, while the SLB fabric stands out for combining a pronounced slubby texture with a surprisingly soft hand — a quality rarely found in denim of this weight.
Built from Pure Blue Japan’s custom 16.5oz selvedge denim, using thick slubby yarns specially developed by the brand and woven through PBJ’s distinctive weaving methods. Despite its substantial weight, the denim gradually softens with wear and becomes increasingly comfortable. With continued wear, the indigo gradually develops high-contrast fading together with the distinctive “point fading” associated with Pure Blue Japan denim over time.
