- Beside the indigo version, Pure Blue Japan also offers this Black x Black variation of its signature Jacquard Patchwork Boro Shirt.
Woven entirely from sulphur-dyed black yarns, the fabric presents a deep and refined black appearance at first glance. While more understated than the indigo version, it offers the same rich texture and depth that have made this fabric one of PBJ's most iconic creations.
The fabric construction follows the same approach as the indigo version. It is woven using multiple jacquard patterns arranged in a patchwork-inspired layout, creating subtle variations in texture and light reflection throughout the fabric.
Unlike the more pronounced fading of indigo, the sulphur-dyed black yarns offer a more subtle aging process. Over time, the deep black tone gradually softens and fades towards rich charcoal and grey hues, making it a uniquely personal garment that continues to evolve through years of wear.

Shoulder Width
- Measure straight across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam on the back.
Chest Width
- Measure straight across the front of the garment, from armpit to armpit.For size chart reference, chest measurement is shown as full circumference ( flat measurement x 2 ).
Waist Width
- Measure across the narrowest part of the shirt — from seam to seam — between the chest and the hem.
Hem Width
- Measure straight across the bottom edge of the shirt, from one side seam to the other — just above the curved hem.
Sleeve Length (Set-In)
- Measure from the top of the shoulder seam straight to the end of the cuff.
Sleeve Length (Raglan)
- Measure from seam of collar all the way down to the end of the cuff.
Armhole
- Measure vertically from the shoulder seam down to the bottom of the armhole seam.

- Measure from the center of the base of the collar (just below the collar band) straight down to the bottom hem.
