- The Freewheelers Lot 601XXC is based on a transitional denim model produced around 1937, when the construction of jeans was beginning to change. Suspender buttons carried over from the 1920s were gradually removed, the red tab was introduced as a clear brand identifier, and exposed back-pocket rivets were replaced by concealed rivets. For this model, Freewheelers carefully studied surviving vintage examples and historical information, rebuilding the jeans around a rare pair marked with the lot number “XXC”, with the “C” believed to refer to the concealed rivet construction.
Using the same 14oz selvedge denim weight as several other Vanishing West models, the fabric developed for the 601XXC has a much stronger neppy character. Thick, uneven yarns create an irregular surface with clearly visible nep throughout the denim. Rope-dyed in pure indigo and woven slowly on vintage shuttle looms, the fabric has a soft yet firm hand and will develop strong vertical fading, while its pronounced neppy texture becomes increasingly visible with wear.
The construction carefully recreates the details of 1930s jeans, including a crotch rivet, concealed back-pocket rivets, a cinch back fitted with an unpainted two-prong buckle, and painted iron front buttons with a slightly lemon-yellow tone. Fine-gauge stitching is used throughout, while the high rise, balanced thighs and straight leg from the knee to the hem create a clean classic silhouette that reflects the characteristic fit of the period.

Shoulder Width
- Measure straight across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam on the back.
Chest Width
- Measure straight across the front of the garment, from armpit to armpit.For size chart reference, chest measurement is shown as full circumference ( flat measurement x 2 ).
Waist Width
- Measure across the narrowest part of the shirt — from seam to seam — between the chest and the hem.
Hem Width
- Measure straight across the bottom edge of the shirt, from one side seam to the other — just above the curved hem.
Sleeve Length (Set-In)
- Measure from the top of the shoulder seam straight to the end of the cuff.
Sleeve Length (Raglan)
- Measure from seam of collar all the way down to the end of the cuff.
Armhole
- Measure vertically from the shoulder seam down to the bottom of the armhole seam.
Body Length
- Measure from the center of the base of the collar (just below the collar band) straight down to the bottom hem.
