- "Murakumo" is an ancient Japanese word that describes clusters of clouds gathering across the sky. In classical poetry and literature, it often appears as an image of clouds drifting and overlapping against a clear blue sky, expressing movement, change, and atmosphere rather than a fixed form.
The 17oz Murakumo Selvedge Denim is newly developed exclusively for this model to bring this imagery to life. Samurai uses extra-slubby yarns and a bright, blue-toned indigo dye for the warp, while the weft employs slubby, undyed white yarns. As a result, irregular sections of the weft appear across the surface, visually capturing the look of clouds gathering and dispersing in the sky.
As the yarns are rope-dyed in indigo, the denim will fade naturally with wear, allowing the Murakumo pattern to evolve over time.

Shoulder Width
- Measure straight across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam on the back.
Chest Width
- Measure straight across the front of the garment, from armpit to armpit.For size chart reference, chest measurement is shown as full circumference ( flat measurement x 2 ).
Waist Width
- Measure across the narrowest part of the shirt — from seam to seam — between the chest and the hem.
Hem Width
- Measure straight across the bottom edge of the shirt, from one side seam to the other — just above the curved hem.
Sleeve Length (Set-In)
- Measure from the top of the shoulder seam straight to the end of the cuff.
Sleeve Length (Raglan)
- Measure from seam of collar all the way down to the end of the cuff.
Armhole
- Measure vertically from the shoulder seam down to the bottom of the armhole seam.
Body Length
- Measure from the center of the base of the collar (just below the collar band) straight down to the bottom hem.
