- Pure Blue Japan continues to push its denim further, and the PER-EX-003-BK is a clear expression of that pursuit.
The “EX” series stands for Extra Slub, referring to Pure Blue Japan’s original spinning method that creates a specially irregular yarn. The warp yarns are made from ultra-slubby yarns and rope-dyed in black, while the weft is dyed using natural persimmon tannin ( kakishibu ).
The contrast between the black warp and the persimmon-dyed weft gives the fabric a deep, uneven appearance, with subtle brown-orange tones emerging through the surface. With wear, the extra-slubby warp yarns show a strong, textured vertical fade, which is one of the key features of this denim.

Shoulder Width
- Measure straight across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam on the back.
Chest Width
- Measure straight across the front of the garment, from armpit to armpit.For size chart reference, chest measurement is shown as full circumference ( flat measurement x 2 ).
Waist Width
- Measure across the narrowest part of the shirt — from seam to seam — between the chest and the hem.
Hem Width
- Measure straight across the bottom edge of the shirt, from one side seam to the other — just above the curved hem.
Sleeve Length (Set-In)
- Measure from the top of the shoulder seam straight to the end of the cuff.
Sleeve Length (Raglan)
- Measure from seam of collar all the way down to the end of the cuff.
Armhole
- Measure vertically from the shoulder seam down to the bottom of the armhole seam.
Body Length
- Measure from the center of the base of the collar (just below the collar band) straight down to the bottom hem.
