- Uguisu is a newly developed green selvedge denim by Samurai Jeans, inspired by the understated spirit of the British Army era.The name “Uguisu” refers to the Japanese bush warbler, a bird long associated with the arrival of spring. Its muted green color symbolizes calmness, balance, and quiet elegance in Japanese tradition.
This model uses an original 17oz “Uguisu” Green Selvedge Denim, woven in a left-hand twill structure and produced slowly on vintage shuttle looms. The result is clearly defined vertical textures that give the surface a dynamic yet refined appearance.The warp yarns are dyed using reactive dyeing, which bonds deeply with the cotton fibers. Compared to indigo rope dyeing, this method produces a softer, more gradual aging process, with the color gently mellowing over time rather than forming sharp contrast fades.
The paper flasher design is inspired by traditional Japanese hanafuda cards. In hanafuda, the plum and uguisu motif represents peace, harmony, and balance.This motif feels deeply in tune with the Samurai brand.

Shoulder Width
- Measure straight across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam on the back.
Chest Width
- Measure straight across the front of the garment, from armpit to armpit.For size chart reference, chest measurement is shown as full circumference ( flat measurement x 2 ).
Waist Width
- Measure across the narrowest part of the shirt — from seam to seam — between the chest and the hem.
Hem Width
- Measure straight across the bottom edge of the shirt, from one side seam to the other — just above the curved hem.
Sleeve Length (Set-In)
- Measure from the top of the shoulder seam straight to the end of the cuff.
Sleeve Length (Raglan)
- Measure from seam of collar all the way down to the end of the cuff.
Armhole
- Measure vertically from the shoulder seam down to the bottom of the armhole seam.
Body Length
- Measure from the center of the base of the collar (just below the collar band) straight down to the bottom hem.
