- The Deluxeware 1953XX is based on a 1953 vintage model, a time when denim was beginning to shift from the wider silhouettes of the 1940s. Not overly wide and closer to a modern balance, it represents one of the earliest forms of the straight fit we know today — simple, natural, and easy to wear.
The fabric is Deluxeware’s original 13.6oz selvedge denim, known as “heat denim.”
Using American Memphis cotton, the fabric is treated with corn starch sizing — just as it was in the past — then baked and fully dried. This process recreates the dry, slightly rough texture that defines vintage denim, giving it a firm feel from the start.
The construction follows the same level of precision. Vintage sewing machines such as Union Special, Singer, and Reece are used, maintaining the character of the original production methods. From stitch count and thread thickness to color, sewing methods, and pattern design, every detail is carefully considered. The result is the 1953XX — a pair that reflects not only the look, but also the feel of 1953 through its material, process, and construction.
