- The Vanishing West Lot 601XX 1947 model reflects a transitional moment. As World War II came to an end, workwear began to evolve, yet still carried the honest, straightforward spirit of the wartime years. This model feels grounded and authentic, capturing the atmosphere of a new postwar chapter while retaining a subtle workwear edge.
The denim is Freewheelers’ original 14oz selvedge fabric, carefully developed from the yarn up. Built with a blended warp using five different cotton types and a softly twisted single-cotton weft, the fabric shows subtle nep and natural irregularity throughout.
Compared to the 1951 model, this denim features a deeper, richer indigo tone, closer to the atmosphere of the wartime and immediate postwar period. Woven slowly on vintage shuttle looms, the fabric has a balanced weight and a slightly hairy texture, offering both structure and comfort. With wear and washing, the denim develops rich fading and depth, promising beautiful aging over time.
In terms of fit, the 1947 model differs clearly from the 1951 version. The rise is slightly higher, and the silhouette falls straight from the knee to the hem without tapering. This results in a solid, no-nonsense straight leg that feels rugged and timeless — a silhouette that still carries workwear roots, yet already hints at the changing style of the late 1940s.
