- The “Azuma-Knit” sweatshirt was developed as a lightweight layer for wearing beneath a leather jacket. Unlike Deluxeware’s heavyweight loopwheel sweatshirt, this exceptionally lightweight piece offers the easy wearability of jersey while retaining the warmth and character of sweatshirt fabric.
The fabric is slowly knitted in Wakayama on a vintage Azuma knitting machine at a rate of approximately 12 metres per day — enough for only around seven garments. It is knitted to a carefully controlled density, creating a clean and even surface. At the same time, the yarn is worked without excessive tension, allowing air to remain between the yarns and giving the fabric a soft, smooth texture.
The reverse side of the fabric is left unbrushed, making the sweatshirt comfortable to wear across a wider range of seasons. Its knitted structure provides greater warmth than a standard T-shirt, making it particularly suitable as an inner layer beneath a jacket.
The mock neck helps prevent the collar of a leather jacket from sitting directly against the skin, while also creating a more refined appearance than a standard crew-neck T-shirt. Simple and understated, it gives the piece a quiet character of its own.

Shoulder Width
- Measure straight across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam on the back.
Chest Width
- Measure straight across the front of the garment, from armpit to armpit.For size chart reference, chest measurement is shown as full circumference ( flat measurement x 2 ).
Waist Width
- Measure across the narrowest part of the shirt — from seam to seam — between the chest and the hem.
Hem Width
- Measure straight across the bottom edge of the shirt, from one side seam to the other — just above the curved hem.
Sleeve Length (Set-In)
- Measure from the top of the shoulder seam straight to the end of the cuff.
Sleeve Length (Raglan)
- Measure from seam of collar all the way down to the end of the cuff.
Armhole
- Measure vertically from the shoulder seam down to the bottom of the armhole seam.
Body Length
- Measure from the center of the base of the collar (just below the collar band) straight down to the bottom hem.
