- The Hideo Motoike Series is a jewelry line created to mark the 50th anniversary of Moto, returning to the roots of the brand and the personal history of its founder, Hideo Motoike. Established in 1971, Moto began in a small atelier in Minami-Aoyama—an intimate space where craftsmanship, culture, and personal expression quietly intersected. These early years laid the foundation for Motoike’s lifelong approach to making, rooted in handwork, curiosity, and lived experience.
Distinct from the Contemporary Native Series, the Hideo Motoike Series carries a deeper, more personal connection to Native American culture as seen through Motoike’s own life and experiences. Each piece is personally designed and handcrafted by Motoike himself, from the initial design to the creation of the original forms and tools used in production.
Rather than aiming for uniform perfection, the jewelry is meant to age naturally over time — becoming a personal object shaped by wear and memory. This is jewelry as Motoike-san intends it — personal, honest, and shaped by the hands and time of a life devoted to craftsmanship.
