Moto Leather Arts & Crafts
Founded in 1971 by Hideo...
Founded in 1971 by Hideo Motoike in Tokyo, Moto Leather Arts & Crafts began as a small workshop dedicated to handmade leather goods. In the early years, Hideo met Goro Takahashi, the founder of Goro’s, whose spirit of craftsmanship left a deep impression on him. Their friendship shaped Moto’s philosophy — to create with honesty, respect for materials, and a quiet sense of individuality.
Over time, Moto’s work expanded from leather to silver jewelry, boots, clothing, and denim, all sharing the same belief that beauty comes from aging. Each piece changes through use — the leather darkens, the denim fades, the silver dulls and shines again — forming a personal story between the object and its owner.
This idea of growth through time is what MOTO calls “MOTO Style” — a way of life that values simplicity, imperfection, and the natural warmth of things made by hand.
